Terms of use
Last updated 2026-10-30
These terms apply to the Wherepare website at www.wherepare.com and the application at app.wherepare.com (together, "the service"), operated by the operator of Wherepare. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.
1. What the service is
Wherepare is a tool for recording and viewing your own finances: transactions, investments, assets and loans. You enter the data; the service stores it, does the arithmetic and shows the results. It does not connect to banks, brokers or payment providers, does not move money, and is not a financial, tax or investment adviser. Figures it shows, including market prices and exchange rates obtained from third parties, are for your information only and may be delayed, incomplete or wrong. Decisions you make based on them are your own.
2. Your account
- An account consists of a username, a password and a recovery phrase. The password and the recovery phrase are never sent to us, so we cannot reset or recover them. If you lose both, the account and its data are permanently inaccessible. Keeping them safe is your responsibility.
- You may create an account only for yourself and must not share it or use someone else's.
- You can end any logged-in device's session, change your password or recovery phrase, export your data and delete your account at any time from within the application; a household you own has to be handed over or deleted first. Deleting the account deletes all its data immediately and permanently.
3. Account types and price
Every account starts as Basic, which is free of charge. Standard accounts add features such as households, bank statement import and currency conversion. Standard will be sold as a one-time purchase, not a subscription; its price and terms will be published before it can be purchased, and nothing will be charged without your explicit purchase. Until then, an account can be made Standard free of charge on request.
4. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the service for anything unlawful, or store data you have no right to store;
- attempt to access other accounts, probe or disrupt the service, or circumvent its rate limits and security measures;
- use automated tools to create accounts or to load the service beyond normal personal use;
- resell or offer the service to others as your own.
We may suspend or delete an account that is used in breach of these terms.
5. Your data
Everything you enter remains yours. We claim no rights to it beyond what is needed to run the service for you, and we handle it as described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for keeping your own backups; the application provides a full export for that purpose.
6. Availability and changes
The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee that it will be available at all times or free of errors. We may change, suspend or discontinue it or any part of it. Where it is practicable we will announce the discontinuation of the service in advance so that you can export your data.
7. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operator of Wherepare is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service, including loss of data, loss of access to an account whose credentials were lost, and decisions made on the basis of figures the service shows. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Intellectual property
The Wherepare name, logo and software are the property of the operator of Wherepare. If and when the source code is published, its use is governed by the licence published with it.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms; if you do not, export your data and delete your account.
